Science Investigation in P5 & 6

Today the children investigated whether various  textiles were absorbent or waterproof 

They measured out the same lengths of different textiles - cotton,wool, nylon, polyester, silk, plastic and linen- and dipped the lengths into water.

After 5 minutes they measured how far the water had travelled up the textile. The textiles were then put back into the water for another 5 minutes.

Finally after 10 minutes had passed from beginning the experiment, the children remeasured the distance that the water had travelled along the different textiles.

We were delighted to discover that some of our predictions were correct.
