Investigating Length in P3
17th Oct 2023
As part of Maths Week Ireland the children have been exploring length. They first used their feet, and their stride to measure the length of the school hall. Once they discovered they were all getting different answers, they agreed that they needed to use a standard measuring unit. Mrs Hagan introduced the metre stick and they discovered the hall was 13 metres long. They then went on to find things in the classroom that were shorter; the same as or longer than a metre. Finally they worked with partners, to create a school of fish that were about the same length as a metre.
