Investigating Capacity in P3/4

Today the children took their learning outside, working together they investigated the different capacity of containers found in their homes.  They investigated which containers held more than 1 litre of water.  They then filled these containers with a litre of water and used an elastic band to mark this on the container.  Once this challenge was completed, the children then re-investigated which containers held more than 1/2 a litre and again used an elastic band to indicate how much 1/2 a litre would fill of the container.  

Finally when they had completed their measuring challenge they reused the water,  to water the plants in our garden.
